Gurukul Parampara
Reviving the
Gurukul Parampara
For millennia, the Himalayas have been a tapasya-bhūmi, a sacred ground where rishis, yogis, and seekers have journeyed to pursue knowledge, tapas, and self-realisation. The Gurukul parampara was once at the heart of this way of learning, where wisdom was transmitted through living with the Guru, through śravaṇa, manana, sadhana, and seva. Over time, this living tradition gradually faded from our way of life.
Hitesh Ji has carried a vision to revive this Gurukul Parampara in its true spirit, not as a recreation of the past, but as a living tradition for the present. Shala Gurukulam is the beginning of that dream: a space in the Himalayas, open to every sincere seeker who wishes to learn, practise, serve, and grow in the timeless wisdom of Yoga and Sanatana Dharma.

Rooted in the Yogic Tradition
— Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā 1.12–13

The Hatha Yoga Pradipika advises that a yogi should reside in a peaceful, sacred place, free from disturbance, abundant in nature, and suitable for uninterrupted practice. The Himalayas have, for millennia, stood as a shakti kshetra of tapas, sadhana, and spiritual awakening, a sacred abode where countless rishis, yogis, and seekers have pursued the highest knowledge.

Learn Through Living
Yoga is not merely a subject to be studied, it is a way of being. In the Gurukulam, learning unfolds through sadhana, discipline, observation, silence, dialogue, and seva. The rhythm of daily life itself becomes a means of inner refinement.

Experience the Guru-Shishya Parampara
Traditionally, knowledge was transmitted not merely through instruction, but through sannidhya, the presence of the Guru. Here, learning continues through shared meals, walks, seva, chanting, scriptural contemplation, and moments of silence. What is heard is deepened through living.

The Gurukulam Kshetra
A kshetra is more than a place, it is a sacred field shaped by generations of tapas, upasana, and sadhana. The land around Shala Gurukulam carries this spiritual inheritance through its ancient temples, sacred groves, and living traditions of worship.
